Is this really a surprise? This was the year of Adele! The British songtress was everywhere this year with her second album 21. Released in February, 21 is one of the only top selling albums of 2011 actually released in 2011 (most were released at the tail end of 2010) going on to become 5X Platinum.

It all started with the monster hit “Rolling in the Deep” in which Adele sings about a wayward relationship. The Motown –esque hit became huge and topped charts around the globe. The single was a great representation of the album as every track mirrored the same template: a piano lead, heavy bass assisted track paired with hair raising vocals and lyrics to die for.

The album, as a whole, is a masterpiece showcasing what music can be. When asked what inspired the sound Adele simply responded “I make music for your ears. Nothing else”. And my o my, did she ever! The second single “Someone Like You” also remained at the top of the charts and inspired many covers.

In fact, the singles are STILL on the charts after almost a year! In this industry, it’s almost unheard of for a second time artist! Not only is she making a statement for great music everywhere, but it definitely doesn’t hurt that Adele doesn’t have the stereotypical pop singer figure. She’s big, beautiful, and has no regrets.

I CANNOT wait for 24!!!
